Nikkor-Z wide-angle zoom lenses

 

Nikkor-Z 2.8/14-24 mm.

"The world's shortest and lightest ultrawide-angle f/2.8 zoom lens" (Nikon's press release) was introduced mid September 2020. It offers an optical formula of 16 elements (of which 4 are made of ED-glass and 3 are aspherically shaped) in 11 groups. Some elements received the Nano Crystal coating and some the ARNEO coating. The frontlens has a fluorine coating for protection. A 112 mm filter can be attached at the front. Minimum distance is 28 cm, its weight is 650 gram and the best hoods are the HB-96 or the HB-97.

 

Nikkor-Z 4/14-30 mm.

Early January 2019 this sophisticated wide zoom lens was introduced (and became available 4 months later!) as 'the world's first wide zoom lens starting at 14 mm including the possibility to use filters'. This modern S-line series lens for Nikon Z-cameras has an optical formula of 14 elements (of which 4 are aspherically shaped and 4 others are made of ED-glass) in 12 groups, an internal focus and retractable mechanism, a stepping motor for fast autofocus down to 28 cm. and an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism of 7 blades. Most lens elements received nano crystal coating and the front lens has a fluorine coating. The dust and drip proof lens weighs in at 485 gram. Filter size is 82 mm; the best hood is the HB-86.

 

 

Nikkor-Z 4/24-70 mm.

Introduced in August 2018 this newly developed lens has an optical formula of 14 elements (of which one is made of ED-glass and three are aspherically shaped) in 11 groups with 7 diaphragm blades. All lenses received the known Nikon Super Integrated Coating, some have also a nano crystal coating and the front lens has a fluorine coating to avoid scratches etc. A stepping motor is focusing the lens via an inner lens group down to 30 cm. Filter size is 72 mm. and its weight is 500 gram.

 

Nikkor-Z 2.8/24-70 mm.

In February 2019 Nikon introduced this two-ring zoomlens which is one f-stop faster than the 24-70mm/4. Its optical formula consists of 17 elements (of which 2 are made ED-glass and 4 are aspherically shaped) in 15 groups. Some elements received a nano crystal coating as well as the newly developed ARNEO-coating. The front- and rear element received a fluorine coating to protect them from scratches etc.A built-in stepping motor will focus the lens very fast down to 38 cm.. It has 9 diaphragm blades, a filter size of 82 mm. and weighs in at 805 gram. The best hood is the HB-87.

 

Nikkor-Z 4-6.3/24-50 mm (non-S-line)

Late July 2020 together with the Nikon Z-5 Nikon introduced this kit-lens. The only 195 gram heavy lens has a nice optical formula of 11 elements (of which 2 are made of ED-glass and 3 have an aspherical shape) in 10 groups. The lens has internal focusing down to 35 cm and a filter size of the famous 52 mm. At its introduction no hood was mentioned.
