At the (January) 2014 Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas (USA) Nikon introduced this digital SLR camera with an DX (half frame) CMOS sensor of 24.2 Mp. which is used in the Nikon D5000, too. This sensor has no low-pass filter, thus promising sharper images. Each image is processed by the new EXPEED-4 processing unit. To assist the photographer a Guide Mode is available, as well as a Special Effects mode with 13 different options and an Internal Retouch feature, offering 20 different options. Apart from taking stills shooting HD-movies with stereo sound is possible. too. More details can be found in the relevant matrix overview.
