Since Nikon Corporation introduced the Nikon F-90/N-90 SLR camera in 1993, Nikon provided special accessory software - Nikon PhotoSecretary - to enable to change camera settings when connected to a PC running Windows or MacIntosh operating system. Later this software was upgraded for the use with Nikon F-100/N-100 and Nikon F-5 SLR cameras. Nikon PhotoSecretary AC-PW-E software can be used with Windows PC and a Nikon F-90(X) SLR camera. To connect the camera to your PC the Nikon MC-31 cable is needed. Nikon PhotoSecretary AC-1WE software can be used with Windows PC or (AC-1ME) MacIntosh computer and a Nikon F-5 SLR camera. To connect the camera to your Windows PC the RS-232C serial port of your Windows PC you'll need a Nikon MC-33 cable. To connect the camera to your MacIntosh computer you'll need a Nikon MC-34 cable. Nikon PhotoSecretary AC-2WE software can be used with Windows PC or (AC-2ME) MacIntosh computer and a Nikon F-100 SLR camera. To connect the camera to your Windows computer you'll need a Nikon MC-31 or MC-33 cable; to connect it to a MacIntosh computer you'll need a Nikon MC-34 cable. With the PhotoSecretary software you are able to change camera settings and to operate the camera (shutter release button, film rewind, focus mode and AF-buttons). With the AC-1W/ME and AC-2W/ME software you can change camera settings off-line, too. All software mentioned above can be used with Windows 95 software up to Windows XP. MacIntosh computers have to run Mac OS7. Nikon also introduced in 1993 a data link IC card (Nikon AC-1E) to connect a Nikon F-90/N-90 SLR camera via a MC-27 cable to Sharp Electronic Organizer 8xxx/9xxx-series (see above). In 1994 a Nikon AC-2E card was introduced to be used with the Nikon F-90X/N-90X SLR camera and - finally - in 1998 a similar card (AC-2WE) was introduced to be used with a Nikon F-100/N-100 SLR camera connected to a Sharp Organizer. Via the software it is possible to change all camera settings and to save image details up to 52 films.
