Mid September 2010 Nikon introduced "a new line of mid-class, high-spec Nikon DX-format cameras". The newly developed CMOS-sensor has 16.2 Mp and the AF multi-CAM 4800DX featuring 39 AF-sensors makes full-time Autofocus during HD-movie shootings possible. It also has a 2016 pixel RGB-metering sensor for better color management. New is a double SD-card slot. More technical details see the matrix.

In November 2011 Nikon issued a firmware upgrade: A 1.02, B 1.03. When upgrading the software of your camera, you should install both firmware! Ask your dealer for more info or download (after registration) the firmware from the website of the Nikon representation in your country or region.
